Hi Hilary, turns out the problem I was experiencing was because a server was interrupted by IT. The error message is no longer occurring and I have been successful in republishing my form to the site. Thanks for taking the time to investigate.

Here's a screenshot of the SharePoint Column settings for the control that is working well in my environment (from my earlier screenshot) in case that helps. You might want to create a test list for yourself with columns of the different data types and a customized form - then you'd have a reference.
