• Re: InfoPath and Outlook Integration - Can't set Body correctly

Hi Chris, Why not just create a view that is used for the email and sending that as part of the data connection? That option is available out of the box. You don't have to launch Outlook and try to automate the sending. Just do it using out-of-the-box features. Kindly,

  • Re: Lookup Fields - Displaying as read only on an edit form showing ID and not TITLE

Hi Steve, To show the display value in a calculated value, just insert the field from the secondary data source and click Filter and specify the ID from the main data source. Easy as pie,

  • Re: Selected items from Listbox in other list

Hi OneByOne and welcome! Are you using an InfoPath form (not a list form)? I'm assuming you are. When the item is selected, you can have a rule that copies the concatenated value to a repeating table. Unfortunately, you cannot copy to a specific row unless you manually modify the templates manifest and that technique will not work in the ...

  • Re: custom sequential numbering is reusing last number instead of adding 1 to Max(number)

The technique I showed in last Thursday's webinar will return the current ID without using max (@ID) and it is bullet proof and best practice. The popularized max (@ID) technique is flawed for the following reasons: Simultaneous submits create forms with same ID Doesn’t work for views with permissions (just ask Doreen) May require ...

  • Re: Big problem calculating

Hi Dr Goebel and welcome, It sure is frustrating that an update would cause a break. I'm not sure why this broke but I have a simple solution. Replace the code with declarative logic in the form. You can do your calculation just fine without code. Just add a rule and an action to set the value with the calculation. All Xpath and it will ...

  • Re: Glitch in SharePoint alerts for new InfoPath forms

Hi JBoyce2 and welcome, Not sure I understand your scenario. Are you getting 2 alerts? The SharePoint alert stuff is totally independent of InfoPath. InfoPath promoted properties should be written before the alert. Maybe there's a glitch as you say. One easy fix would be to turn off alerts and add a reusable workflow that sends an email. ...

  • Re: validation not working properly

No idea. I've never heard of a condition limit for browser based forms. We have some very complex browser forms, but maybe none with 10 conditions. Are you using expressions to add the conditions? You might try it with 5 conditions and then 7 and see if there's a difference. Should be easy to debug if this is a number issue.

  • Re: If/Then in submit to SP library

Hi Joe_Detroit, The submit data connection doesn't support rules, but you can add an xpath with conditionality. Here's the trick: concat(substring("UNAPPROVED", 1, 10 * (Field = 'NO')),' ', Field2) In other words, if Field is your dropdown and it is 'NO', then Field2 (your form name) will be ...

  • Re: XML based info path form

Hi Dv028 and welcome! I'm not sure I understand your scenario. What is not working? You say formula. Do you mean the xpath fx you are using or are you talking about a rule-action? Is it browser form or filler only? Can you attach the XSN and give us specific steps to reproduce the issue? As you know, InfoPath supports imported XSD, and ...

  • Re: fit entire form on width of page to print

Hi BrunetteJ, You could create a separate print view that has a smaller width (or larger for landscape) and provide separate buttons to switch to each view and then print. Unfortunately, InfoPath doesn't allow you to auto-scale a view when printing. That would be a very complex operation. :)
