Thanks Again Jimmy, i actually understood that and have used the shortened version extensively now-even building them into conditional rules populating other fields!
Just out of curiosity, i am the only person i know who uses infopath and i cant seem to find the level of detail anywhere, is this classed as technical or more of a beginner formula ...

Hmmm, may be a simple data type issue. SQL data types are not XML data types.
Can you attach you XSN so we can have a look? Go to options tab and add it.

I have no idea. This is very strange.

OK, here's another example.

Please search this forum for the "current()" command. You'll need to use it to implement you cascading dropdown.
-
Go to File->Form Options->Compatibility and select the topmost item.
Now, publish.

Ugh. Sorry you are still in the midst of grey mist.
Well, that's not what I see. Maybe you should send us your form for a further look....

Hi Sherry,
We need to debug this with you in an online meeting. The forum format (high latency responses) just won't help to solve this kind of a problem.
We do provide InfoPath support on a pay-as-you go basis. Is this an option for you?
If you are currently a customer of Qdabra, we'll waive the initial hour or so.
Please email ...

Yes, don't you just love mantissas?
Please consider using the round function on this. Just double click and set the default value equal to floor(.) where . is the current field.
