Infopath 2010 using web service from Sharepoint 2010 critical error

I have recently been tasked with upgrading an Infopath 2007 from Sharepoint 2007 to 2010. I have found the original template and upgraded it to 2010, upgraded the web service to VS 2010 and tested everything using Filler. Everything works great. But, when I upload it to SP 2010, (fully trusted form using udcx connection files), it generates a critical error. The form uses 2 web methods to retrieve data - one on initial load to populate a dropdown list and a second to retrieve the specific data when something is selected from the dropdown list. When the form is initially displayed, the ddl populates fine and I can select an item and the data is retrieved and displayed, but when I do anything else (select another item, hit cancel, etc) it generates the following error.

I've spent hours searching for any information on what's causing this but no luck. I've put the web service in debug mode but it never connects back to the service. The form works fine on the old SP 2007 site, so I've gone through all the sharepoint settings but I can find nothing. I've searched for Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.DocumentLifetime.ErrorBoard to find more info but that has also turned up nothing.

Can anybody help me with this?

Re: Infopath 2010 using web service from Sharepoint 2010 critical error

This error crops up for data connections that are incorrectly defined. Hard to say exactly what the issue is in your case since you say the Web services are all that it queries. If the UDCX files were not updated to point to the correct site (if they changed), that could explain it.

Why is the form full trust? That's unusual and only required in <5% of forms.

Have you looked at your SharePoint logs for more detailed error information?

Can you attach the form here? Click on options and add.

If you search for "InfoPath the given key was not present in the dictionary" many things will popup. For example:

Re: Infopath 2010 using web service from Sharepoint 2010 critical error

I'm not sure why it was set to full trust - that was in the instructions I was given from a previous developer. I have just uploaded it into a form library and am testing from there rather than uploading through Central Admin.

I've gone through the logs in the 14 hive, looked at the event viewer and this was all I could find.

My initial thought was the connections but I've compared the udcx files with those from the old sharepoint site and they are identical (except the port, dates and user created by) so there's nothing I see that's obvious there. I even created a brand new form and just put the initial dropdown list and a button on it to trigger the call to the Main query to retrieve the data calling the web methods in debug mode and all works fine there. When I compare the udcx files against those created from the full form I still don't see anything obvious.  I've attached the form and all the connection files I've been able to find. Please let me know if there's anything else I can provide.

Re: Infopath 2010 using web service from Sharepoint 2010 critical error

Trying to do a little more digging and this message appears right after the error message above:

    Watson bucket parameters: SharePoint Server 2010, ULSException14, 41b7c39f "infopath forms services", 0e00178d "14.0.6029.0", c180aef3 "mscorlib", 0200c627 "2.0.50727.0", 4e1539fa "thu jul 07 00:45:46 2011", 000000dd "000000dd", 00000005 "00000005", 0560164b "keynotfoundexception", 38676563 "8gec"              6997ccd6-eb92-42fd-8e49-5b9fd7113582

At the same time I find this in the Windows Application log in the event viewer:

Login failed for user 'AGENCY\sp001'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database. [CLIENT: <local machine>]

What little I could find about this message is a problem accessing the Temp folder.  I checked and this user id is part of the Administrators group on the server. Anyone?

Re: Infopath 2010 using web service from Sharepoint 2010 critical error

    Hi SherryJ,

Thanks for attaching your form. I reviewed all files in your zip.

I think the problem is that your main query is pointing at localhost :

       <udc:ServiceUrl UseFormsServiceProxy="false">http://localhost:8888/SPHQ.InfoPathRR/Service.asmx</udc:ServiceUrl>

If you want to submit a browser form to SQL or Access, you will need to make sure the database lives on the SharePoint front end that you are interacting with.

Submitting directly to a database from a browser form does not work because the browser doesn't forward credentials.

You need a Web service (like Qdabra's DBXL) or you need to have the database on the same front end and use UDCX + SSO.

What was the previous environment in which this worked?

Re: Infopath 2010 using web service from Sharepoint 2010 critical error

    Hi Patrick,

As per my original post, the infopath form connects to a .NET web service and that does the database calls. The Sharepoint site and the webservice(running under Default Web Service - port 8888)  are both on the SP2010dev server, the database is on the SQL server. Sharepoint is 2010, web service was recompiled with VS2010, 3.5 framwork. The service account on this SP site is Agency\SP001, AppPool runs as the same user and I've verified it is part of the Administrator group on the server.

In the old environment, the Sharepoint (SP2007) site and web service (running under Default Web Service - port 90) are on the OldSharepoint server (it was renamed from Sharepoint), and the web service(running under default web site) connects to the database on the SQL server. The AppPool for this site runs as user Agency\SPPortal who is part of the Administrator group.

I've uploaded the web service for you to see what I'm working with. Nothing out of the ordinary here. I also included the .udcx files from the old SP 2007 site which I used as a guide when generating the new .udcx files.

The infopath form works in filler. If I put the web service in debug mode and connect the infopath form in sharepoint to this it works fine. It's only when I connect the sharepoint infopath form to the web service running under the default web site that it gets this error. I've tried modifying the .udcx file replacing localhost:8888 with sp2010dev:8888 and get the same error. I even tried connecting to the web service which is still running on the OldSharepoint server by using oldsharepoint:90 and it generates the same error.

Once again, the error does not happen on the 1st call to the web service/database, but after the dropdown list is loaded, the user selects an item from the ddl and the web service returns the data and populates the form with that data. So it makes to successfull calls to the web service before the error occurs. I've looked at the SP logs, the windows logs and the Microsft/Sharepoint Product/Shared/Operational log. They all say the same thing:

Exception occurred during request processing. (User: AGENCY\spfarm, Form Name: Capital Replacement Reserve Contributions Tracking, IP: , Request: http://sp2010dev/PM/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XsnLocation=http://sp2010dev/PM/CapitalReplacementRCT/Forms/template.xsn&SaveLocation=http://sp2010dev/PM/CapitalReplacementRCT&ClientInstalled=true&Source=http://sp2010dev/PM/CapitalReplacementRCT/Forms/AllItems.aspx&DefaultItemOpen=1, Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:Capital-Replacement-Reserve-Contributions-Tracking:-dataFormSolution, Type: KeyNotFoundException, Exception Message: The given key was not present in the dictionary.)

The only other thing I can find is this message:

     Watson bucket parameters: SharePoint Server 2010, ULSException14, 41b7c39f "infopath forms services", 0e00178d "14.0.6029.0", c180aef3 "mscorlib", 0200c627 "2.0.50727.0", 4e1539fa "thu jul 07 00:45:46 2011", 000000dd "000000dd", 00000005 "00000005", 0560164b "keynotfoundexception", 38676563 "8gec" 6997ccd6-eb92-42fd-8e49-5b9fd7113582

At the same time I find this in the Windows Application log in the event viewer:

Login failed for user 'AGENCY\sp001'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database. [CLIENT: <local machine>]

I've looked at the permissions on the SP site, in IIS and even the c:/Temp folder.

I Turned on Verbose logging and this is what now comes out in the log:

Re: Infopath 2010 using web service from Sharepoint 2010 critical error

    Hi Sherry,

We need to debug this with you in an online meeting. The forum format (high latency responses) just won't help to solve this kind of a problem.

We do provide InfoPath support on a pay-as-you go basis. Is this an option for you?

If you are currently a customer of Qdabra, we'll waive the initial hour or so.

Please email me and let's do an online meeting and solve this.
