Thank you for your follow-up. We do understand InfoPath doesn't need custom code, but we are using the xml generated by the InfoPath form somewhere else.
The custom code reads the xml and HTML and renders the page. In the custom code we have <p> tags and we don't want to modify the code at this point.

It takes about 35 seconds. No Qrules or DBXL ....in that respect its a simple form but the form has multiple views with code behind. I'm using your double-submit technique to create a unique ID column so the "Saving..." dialog appears...then goes away....wait wait (nothing but a blank screen)...then Saving dialog appears ...

Patrick, thanks for the response. I don't see that this is possible in the same way as the other item. What I want to happen is to populate option2 based on the response of Option 1, which is a choice list.
Option 1: is this new covrage? (Yes/No/Maybe) based on the person making this choice it would activate Option 2 which is a comment field ...

Once a form is submitted to the SP library, users need to open the form and update some promoted columns. Sometimes multiple users are doing this at the same time, so when they make updates and resubmit they are overwriting each others work.

Thank you for your help. As you can see in this image the form is digitally signed. I used the built in submit button and had it send the form template with the email. In the next image you can see where the digital signiture is missing.
