I think you might mean opening the form in a dialog? Like list items can be opened? Here is a blog with a suggestion - I have not tried it myself. :)
EDITED: to add the actual blog link. http://marriedtosharepoint.com/2012/01/15/open-an-infopath-form-in-a-dialog/

Is there a way, without coding, that InfoPath forms can be opened in a 'New' browser window in SharePoint, with the background window greyed out? I see alot of it in SharePoint, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
Thanks,
Roxane

Hello Joy,
You might be able to get around this by using a list template file (STP file). Here's a link on how to copy or move a list (including its XSN and list data which is optional) by using a list template: http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/sharepoint-server-help/copy-or-move-a-list-by-using-a-list-template-HA101782479.aspx.
Hope that ...

To follow up on my testing, I have been deleting by groups of 10 in the view and 131 records failed, 121 records worked.
Nothing else was changed in the form just the number of records retrieved by the list view.

Just to update the thread - an updated qRules DLL (v5.2) seems to have addressed the exception. We also changed the form to remove a filter on a repeating section, since filters and IPFS seem to be fraught with bugs. We used conditional formatting instead.

I received the following when adding the altpath attribute to the tag. System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException:
Unrecognized attribute 'altpath'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive.
We are on DBXL 2.5.2011.0517 if that makes a difference.

Hi Kevin,
You can use conditional formatting for the default values. Check the attached xsn.
Have a good day!
