Your task should be fairly easy and straight forward. What you need to do is set up a field, preferrably in a secondary data source, which is your filter field.
Let's assume the following:
TaskFilter is the name of your filter field.
The values 0, 1, 2 represent Overdue, Due and Completed tasks respectively.
Status is the name of the field ...

What do you mean all the files are not there? What do you mean that it is not a real XSN? If your template is broken somehow you cannot expect the form.xml to work properly.

You can use rules to fill in the values of the other fields when the drop-down list changes. But the values used to fill in the fields would be filtered based on the selection of the drop-down list.
For example: Let's say your data source looked like this:
<People>
<Person name=''Mary'' id=''12345''/>

It could be useful to keep a copy of the one that doesn't work to compare it to the one that does work (i.e. use WinDiff or another tool to compare the before and after files). This is especially helpful for Microsoft to ...

I have not tested to see if there is a limit to the number of rules, but each rule can have multiple actions.
As a workaround you can place several field value updates into a single rule.

The user only need to select Save or Save As from the File menu.
If you want to provide a button for saving the file, you will need to write code and perform the Save() or SaveAs() function ...

Drop-down lists 1 and 2 should both be bound to different fields. If you bind them to the same field, then they both change the same value.
You have two different pieces of information that you are trying to get: Vendor Number (drop-down list 1) and Vendor Phone Number (drop-down list 2). Let's say they are bound to fields my:VendNo and ...
