I tried to break it again by unchecking the all the options under Customize commands once again, but it did not break after I re-published it, so I'm not sure why check an option there fixed it and why unchecking the option won't break it again.

I was able to fix this by checking at least one of the commands in the customize commands window of the repeating table properties on the data tab. I've discovered that it is only doing this when leaving my mouse cursor on the text field while tabbing out of it.
