So - I generally don't recommend this, because unless you get really fancy you always a chance that two users will get the same number. However, if you must, here's how I'd do it. I'd keep the XYXYX data in its own field and promote that, so I can query on just that piece. Add a data connection to the library that includes the ...

Hi - you can't add a repeating table in the main data source of a SharePoint list form. You can set the form to manage multiple items (which, since the SharePointListItem_RW node is repeating, I am assuming has already been done). It is just a limitation of SharePoint List forms - the only repeating data controls you'll see are multiple ...

You may need to use workflows - you do need to use Outlook, if this is a Filler form. Have your form submit to a library and you can have a workflow on the library.

It is one of those things that seems so very simple but can really be a pain. You basically need to "reserve" a number for each potential form in able to be completely confident that you won't have duplicates. There was a post here just a few weeks ago where a form designer had an accidental overwrite in a library because of two ...

You need to add a data connection to get the data back from the SharePoint list, then you can copy it into the main data source. https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/60434b01-d249-452d-b631-46e6490fe178/copy-rows-from-a-secondary-data-source-to-a-repeating-table-in-the-main-data-source-in-infopath?forum=sharepointcustomization shows one ...
