Thanks for chiming in - I may give that a try, although as of late this has not been happening as much on my machine (Windows 10 / IP 2013). I'm still seeing error message displays truncated tho.

I'm glad you got it working! One thing that really helped me a lot with InfoPath was putting secondary data on the form for debugging purposes. Then I could see what the data really was, and it helped me figure out what was going wrong. I think I got so attached to my forms I didn't want to make a mess by putting stuff I didn't need on ...

Our IT department have suggested disabling the service called 'Tablet PC input service'. It has done the trick for me!

Just wanted to share my findings on this issue.
I have found that if you resize the Infopath Designer window so that
it only covers a quarter of the desktop, the form will then open
successfully!
You can then maximise the Infopath Window & work on the form as normal.

It looks like you may be missing your transitions as well as your end workflow. If you have named steps to your workflow, it's important that the last action tells the workflow what to do next.
