You have a few choices. One of them is changing your form's SQL query in code before running it to make it dynamic -- that is, to add a "Where" clause that includes the information typed in your text box. Another is to build or buy a web service. A third choice would be to go ahead and return all the rows when you run the query, ...

Please do -- you can attach it under the Options tab when you reply to this post -- I'd like to look at it!

Hi:
I mocked up a sample using the data structure described above and an XML file for a secondary data connection based off your XML. Here is the formula that worked for me:
xdXDocument:GetDOM("XMLFile1")/Technology/Operation/Operation_type/Attribute_2/@value[../../@value =current()/../../my:Operation_type]
When I added the XML ...

Okay, and what is the condition in the first part of your filter?
my condition > is equal to > use a formula > current()/my:Operation_type ...
from your initial post -- if you select Edit XPath in the Insert Formula dialog, what does the XPath look like?

Hi:
When we add an event to an InfoPath form, when working with jscript, IP will add the namespace definition at the top of the .js file. For example:
XDocument.DOM.setProperty("SelectionNamespaces", 'xmlns:my="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/myXSD/2008-10-03T18:12:27"');
Since you are getting an ...

Hi -- what does your data source look like? The error you are getting means that the XPath in your formula is incorrect. If I know what your data source looks like, I may be able to help you. You can just type out your structure, for example:
my:myFields
my:repeatingGroup
my:fieldOne
my:Operation_type

Hi, again:
SharePoint, for being web based, can be a little tough to work with as a data connection InfoPath. Really, when you create a data connection to a SharePoint list, it is an all or nothing proposition (unless you'd like to write or purchase a Web service to help you -- here is a bit more info on writing a wrapper). So, ...

Is this happening for all the drop downs on the form? or just one? Does it happen in both in Preview mode and when the form is opened regularly? Have you tested it on any other machines?

Hi:
This thread has a C# sample for modifying an Access query in a data connection in a form to use the value of another field in a 'where' clause and then run the query. You could use something like it in the Changed event for your text field, so that the value of the text field would be used in the 'where' clause for your SQL ...

It turns out that when we use a URL to open the form and pass in input parameters, the parameter key passed in is changed to lower case. So, for example, if you use "VacID" as the parameter key in your Loading event, and "VacID" as the query parameter in your hyperlink, the Loading event actually receives "vacid" and ...
