hi,
is there a way for me to multiply (or add, sub, div for that matter) the values entered into 2 different fields and store its product on another data source, then sum all these products to compute for a grand total to be displayed.
to illustrate, i have a field for QUANTITY and UNIT COST, multiply the entered values then display to a ...

Hello Greg,
I tried deleting the Bin File and Obj File and then tried running the gacutil.exe /cdl and it still didn't work.
Do you have any other ideas....

Thanks for your thought. It's stuff like ''cloneNode'' & ''replaceNode'' that I didn't know about (I don't normally do yucky ...

Kind of :)
translate(source, 'ABC...', 'abc...')
[yes, you have to type in every letter!] does LCASE. Each char is replaced/translated from it postion (i.e. index) found in 'ABC...' to the same position in 'abc...'. Rudimentary, but that's all XPath offers natively.
This all goes back to 'tr' in Perl/SED from UNIX days... :)

isn't translate the same thing as replace? As pertaining to my issue, I won't need it because I was actually attempting to compare a node to a String within the code, found another way to do this.

It appears like this:
<xs:element name=''ApprDeptManagerDate'' type=''xs:dateTime'' minOccurs=''0'' />
I changed it to:
<xs:element name=''ApprDeptManagerDate'' type=''xs:dateTime'' minOccurs=''0'' nillable=''true'' />
to see what happens, and I replaced my SQL portion of my statement
CASE tEOR.ApprDeptManagerDate WHEN ...

I'm curious if in your data source, the dates appear as elements or attributes? If they are elements you should be able to have them nillable in the schema that InfoPath creates. If they are attributes then you are out of luck other than to set them as strings.
If you are using a Web service, you might be able to have dates on the database end ...

Since your datafields are essentially identical, except for maybe a root node or two, what you can do is the following. Let's assume your common root node is named s0:MyData.
var oMyData1 = ...

First try deleting your BIN and OBJ folders and then trying to open it again.
If that doesn't do it, take a look at the following thread on Google Groups and see if it helps:

What you are experiencing is the correct behavior. The query fields are not for data editing and submission, that's what the data fields are for. The query fields are only to ''query'' the database and populate the data fields.
You need to bind your repeating table to the data fields for data entry and submission.
