You can get them by knowing where your drop-down list box is getting its display values. You can, for example, use a rule when the drop-down list changes to go to the source and filter by the selected value to get the selected display name and save that into the text box field.

InfoPath has built-in Upgrade features. If you use the InfoPath designer to develop your data source (schema), etc, it will even account for fields that have been added, etc.
If for some reason the default upgrade.xsl doesn't do it, you can always write your own.

Does Infopath allow for some sort of updating process to the version of the form? If I have a user that created a document using version A - could he / she update the version of the form (keeping the existing data) if say version B of the form offered a new option?

Hello All,
Background:
- I have created a web service to return a unique ID.
- The web serice is running. I have tested it and the results are as expected.
- I have added the web service as a data source and can bind it to a control (although this isn't what I need to do).
Goal(what I am attempting to do):
- Call (Query?) the web service, only ...

Hi Patrick,
I would have liked to stay with semi-trusted forms, but the client wanted more functionality.
I have tested what you describe and it worked. If I only changed the certificate that the form was signed with then the form remained intact and the digitial certificates on the existing forms remained valid.
However, I also tested adding ...

I'm using XML spy...well, my goal is to find an easy way to add <xsd:maxLength value=''X''/>, without modifying the schema. No matter, it's only curiosity :)

Sorry, read your post too fast..
Try in your SyncDifference:
IXMLDOMNode oN = e.Site.selectSingleNode( ''..'' );
IXMLDOMNode date1Node = oN.selectSingleNode( ''my:ResourceStartDate'' );
IXMLDOMNode date2Node = oN.selectSingleNode( ''my:ResourceReleaseDate'' );
IXMLDOMNode diffNode = oN.selectSingleNode( ''my:ManDays'' );

Hi,
Did you try to add <xsd:maxLength value=''X''/> in your schema?
Are you using XMLSpy to edit your schema or the built-in schema builder in InfoPath?

Hi Franck!
I already changed my code to what you suggested, but the field still doesn't change. I might be doing something wrong. Here's what I did
private void SyncDifference(DataDOMEvent e)
{
IXMLDOMNode date1Node = e.Source.selectSingleNode( ''my:ResourceStartDate'' );
IXMLDOMNode date2Node = e.Source.selectSingleNode( ...

Hi,
For repeating sections, pass you event e to SyncDifference() and to get to date1Node, date2Node and diffNode, use: e.Source.selectSingleNode(''my:fieldName'');
Hope that it heps.
