Welcome to the forum.
I do not believe you can have that type of code in a browser form and cannot have full trust.
I would think you would need tolook at having some code on SharePoint that could maybe react to a new document and create the filing location instead.

What is the trust level of the form?
Tools -> form options-> Security and Trust
I would assume you are using Windows Authentication on the connection to SQL. You may try going through your SQL connection again in the Data Connection wizard. I would try setting up another Data source and make sure you have MS SQL and Windows Authentication.

You would create a viewstate field which defaulted to the default view name.
Then whenever you switched the view via a rule you would also update this field with the new view name using the Set Field Value action. It takes some housekeeping but I have done this several times.

In Designer you should be able to view your data source in the task pane and see which fields are Required.
Often you either have to set a default so that they will pass validation or you need to do your own validation. So do not set them as required but check them manually in your form to ensure that the user completes them when necessary ...

When inserting you have the default values you can configure, also pay attention to the top of the ...

You can only reference the value of a field.
Are your values and the display name the same? I will assume they are different.
One option is to bind your dropdown to a seperate field where you can keep the value for your use and set the value of the original and other fields as needed or create an input table which has the display name ...

Hi Amad.
Obviously check your SQL database permissions against what login you are using for SharePoint. You need a group account or indivdual access with at least select/read access to the database tables. First to check is the View_DowntimeAlertForm.
Is the database in the same domain? It could be a trust issue that is denying access.
If ...

Hi Rina, Welcome.
This is definetly possible and a typical scenario. You may want to find some examples that have this to look at and get the feel for it.
Typically you would have some special selection fields. These would typically be drop downs which used your lists as sources to select a particular name and category. Then ...
