Weird, I found the same thing athttp://www.w3.org/TR/xpath
quote:the preceding axis contains all nodes in the same document as the context node that are before the context node in document order, excluding any ancestors and excluding attribute nodes and namespace nodes
But, I did get a sample form running. If you e-mail me your e-mail address (it ...

This code is causing an infinite loop. When you use ''objServerName.text = ucase(objServerName.text)'' it calls the OnAfterChange event of that node (which is itself) and causes recursion.
Greg Collins has written a HowTo on this issue, it can be found here:http://infopathdev.com/howto/tips/default.aspx?i=3551199a23ac41f3a155b3a2ffc412c5

Hi Matt,
it doesn't work. I read that in the result os preceding there are no attributes, but only elements.
I think that this line is correct:
not(../my:Parent/@my:RepElem1=../preceding::my:Parent/@my:RepElem1)
but proceding doesn't include the attribute nodes. Please, any help is welcomed :) Thank u.

Marco,
Sorry for the mistake, but I did some experimenting in InfoPath and got the following XPath to work:
not(. = preceding::my:NameOfElement/@my:NameOfAttribute)
You are doing this via the 'Filter Data' and evaluating 'The Expression', correct? I just setup a sample form using the above XPath and it populated my drop-down list with unique ...

I am having an issue with a vbscript set to run as a Data Validation script triggered by an OnAfterChange event.
The Error I get is An error occurred in the form's code. The number of calls to the OnAfterChange event for a single update in the data exceeded the maximum limit.
I have found a few articals on this error but all of them pointed ...

You can't use both languages simultaneously, but to use VBScript instead of JScript follow these steps:
1. Open your form in Design mode
2. Open the Tools menu and click Form Options.
3. Click the Advanced Tab
4. Near the bottom there will be a drop-down list that you can choose VBScript.
5. Click OK.
If the drop-down list described above is ...

Hello.
I'm looking for a solution displaying the Address look in InfoPoint.
I've seen many examples using the MsSvAbw.AddrBookWrapper activeX control which (normally) make what I would like !
The problem is that to use this component, I have to use VBScript (the list of selected users are in a parameter, not the function output value itself ...

Hello, thanks Patrick and Agni, I dind't suppose that programming was neccesary, I'm a newbie in infopath (also in programming) and I thought this funcionality was possible in another way.
I will try with my colleagues here, maybe they can arrange this,
Anyway thanks very much and the best regards,
Carlos.

That's not a correct XPath string, Matt :(
