My Bad, My problem was the reference to my field was incorrect. Field name was EmailBody and I was putting in emailbody. Did not realize field references were case sensitive.

I think an easier to way to do this is to have one repeating group in the DOM and do filtering with the two sections.
Say your data source looks like this:
Events
-Event (repeating)
--Name
--Date
--Cancelled (boolean)
Then you could setup two repeating sections. The first would use a data filter to show only Cancelled = false events, and the ...
