Hi. Please first review the following two articles as they may help solve your issue:
Create a Repeating Cascading List from a Flat Data Source
Filter a Repeating Drop-Down List on Previous and Future Selections

Perhaps reorganizing your data structure so that the Employee is outside the repeating group would be sufficient?

The visual is helpful -- I'm assuming it is the second (bottom) repeating table. But what I really need to see is the data source tree for that table to have an idea how the nodes are organized before I can know how to help.

It is possible if the nodes are set to have minOccurs=''0'' in the schema. If that is not the case then you will not be able to remove them. If it is the case you should be able to remove them using code.

Let's say you add a repeating table to your ...

Also, for a newbie you are really delving into an advanced topic ''preceeding::sibling''. That's great! It sounds like what you're looking for is help on custom XPATH functions. Try the ''References'' area in our ''Resources'' page for a pointer to XPATH, XSLT and other more advanced topics.

You're very welcome. To explain a little further, what is happening is that all those 2000 items are displayed in the dropdown. Since the InfoPath is in effect just an HTML view what's really going on is that all those 2000 items are <option> items for the HTML dropdown! That really bloats the HTML view and wreaks havoc on InfoPath's view ...
