i am not pretty sure what you, want it seems, when u load the form first time, the totals are not correct, when u edit the form the totals get corrected. if this is the problem then u need to calculate the value by adding rule at form opening.

if the rules are met, place some particular value (say "RulesFired") in a fied (say "areRulesFired"), and in the code check for the value. if the "areRulesFired" field does not have value "RulesFired" dont execute the code.

well you can encrypt the data in the infopath form before saving or submiting it
below is the code to encrypt a field in InfoPath 2007.
Rijndael rKey = new RijndaelManaged();
XPathNavigator xnFormName = ...

hi Stu,
you can also use code behind to fetch data, fetching data using code behind is the easiest way

yes you can prevent users from deleting nodes from repeating (table/section).
go to properties of repeating (table/section).
go to customize commands
in actions drop down select remove and uncheck every thing from location of control multiselect list box.

For the draw back. you can have one more column in the repeating table that indicates whether the comment field is editable or not, when the user saves or submits the form, change the value of the field to no. and make the comment field readonly on that condition. that should solve your drawback.

easiest way of getting rid of it is to drop the secondary data connection on to your form in the form of a repeating table and hide it using conditional formatting
-
hi,
There seems to be a bug with infopath that is
if you use a secondary data connection, Then you have to assign value of selected columns to some variables otherwise it can create problems in saving and submitting in browser

Hi,
if you just want to bypass showing submit successful message box. create a custom buttom, and in its code just write
this.Submit();
this will throw an exception if the submit is not successfull. you can catch that and act accordingly
it wont create any popup at all
Thanks
