Qdabra™ Database Accelerator Suite (DBXL)

Version 2.0

1.  Pre-Requisites for the Machine

Before installing Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite (DBXL), make sure that your environment meets the requirements needed for the scenario you are targeting:

1.1     Server Scenarios

  1. Local Standalone – for developer debug and testing
    • Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
    • Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE), Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005
    • IIS 5.1 or IIS 6.0
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

  2. Domain Database – for teams that don’t use SharePoint
    • Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
    • SQL 2000 or 2005
    • IIS 5.1 or IIS 6.0
    • .NET Framework 2.0
    • If SQL server and Web Service are on separate servers

                                          i.    SQL Authentication is preferred but

ii.    Windows Authentication will work if you give the server machine account where the Web Service is installed sysadmin access to SQL instance

  1. Domain SharePoint – for teams that use SharePoint
    • Same as Domain Database, plus
    • Windows SharePoint Services 2003 or 2007

Important considerations regarding authentication:

    • To use the SharePoint Web Part that ships with DBXL you must install the suite on the same machine as Windows SharePoint Services.
    • To use a domain account for the Application Pool (to give Web Service ability to access other resources on the network) make sure that account is added to IIS_WPG
    • Vista clients – due to a bug in the Vista WebDAV redirector for client machines accessing Web Services, if you have users running Vista you must install the DBXL WebDAV handler on the root of the server where DBXL is installed (see steps below). Further, when installing on a machine that also has SharePoint, we recommend setting up DBXL on separate Web site from SharePoint (using a different port or host headers).

1.2     Client Scenarios

  1. Windows XP / Office 2003
    • InfoPath 2003
    • Outlook 2003
    • Domain authentication for users (VPN ok)

  2. Windows Vista / Office 2007
    • InfoPath 2007
    • Outlook 2007
    • Domain authentication for users (VPN ok)
