    list a field result in an expression box

    HI folks,

     Hope someone can help me with my problem, I'm sure it's fairly simple

    I have a drop down list that is bound to an ID field and displays the a name. I want to be able to show this same name on an expression box. so, if the drop down changes, the expression box will update to have the same display name.

     Is this possible?

     Thanks in advance for any help.

    Sure.

    Add an expression box and bind it to the name field in the secondary data that is used in your dropdown.

    Then add a filter ( in the lower left when picking the field) where your drop down value is equal to the ID in the secondary data.

    That will then display the name where ID matches what the one picked by the user.  And it will update each time it changes.

    HiYes. It is possible. Follow the below steps.1.    Click on fx button in expression box properties.2.    Click on ‘Insert a field’ in ‘Select 1 Field or Group’ window.3.    Select the source from where you are getting the Id and Name in Source drop down.4.    Select the ‘Name’ field and click on ‘Filter Data’.5.    Click Add button. Select the ID from the source(where you are getting the IDs) in first dropdown, is Equal to in second dropdown and the drop down field in third drop down.6.    Click ok until all windows gets close.

    Hi,

    Use the following Xpath for expression box.

    xdXDocument:GetDOM("Secondary")/MarketingHierarchy/OrganizationGroup/@name[../@id = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:myFields/my:dropdown]

    Here MarketingHierarchy is root node in secondary data source and OrganizationGroup is repeating group from which drop down is getting values. 'my:dropdown' is the field main data source to which your drop down field is binded.
