So I need some urgent help. My secondary data source is a web service that calls a SQL Server stored procedure and fetches the results.
I use for XML AUTO and FOR XML PATH in my SQL queries to retrieve back the results in XML format, and this works fine and all.
The problem when Infopath builds the XML schema associated to the result set, there are no type definitions and so it assumes ever column you get is a string type.
But I need my date columns to be typed as DateTimes and my numeric only fields to be Numeric so I can format them in Infopath.
So what I tried doing was using FOR XML AUTO, XMLSCHEMA, ROOT('DOC') in my query so that the Data types are associated with a schema to my result set. But when I try to use this with Infopath i get an error saying "The selected XML Document cannot be used as a data connection source because it includes inline XDR schemas". So I guess Infopath must create the schema for you in an XML result? If so, how the heck do you change the schema in the data source to give TYPE definitions to the data? Please help
