    eEnvelopes in InfoPath

Wonder if anybody could assess if it possible to create an eEnvelope in InfoPath. I have worked extensively with PDF forms and am a little new to InfoPath. I have developed a PDF-based system whereby forms that are attached to another PDF form can be filled in, signed and saved back as attachments to the "envelope". The envelope has a list of attached form names which is dynamically populated and checked as completed when each form is saved back to it. The envelope is also encrypted for use only by selected individuals (certificate based). I am trying to asses to what extent this is possible with InfoPath, and if there is perhaps an alternative (in conjunction with Sharepoint).

I can create an InfoPath form as an attachment in another form, but is it possible to create a script that will close the form and save these changes back to the document is was opened from? The same event should then also check the form as completed in a list on the envelope (as a checkbox or something suitable). If this is possible, would it remain possible in browser based forms?

Secondly what options are there for encrypting the envelope for specific individuals (online and offline)?

    Any input is appreciated.

I created a similar solution, a roting form, several years ago in InfoPath.

The scenario weas efax distribution, attached to email as PDF documents.

Outlook rules would fire and the user could initiate the launch of the form, passing variables for subject, etc, and saving the attachment to disk.

The form would load the attachment, extract the text, and display it in the activex viewer for pdf.

They would select department and user to route to.

The form would generate a notification to the user and submit the data to SQL via the Qdabra Database Accelerator product.

Then the user could use text search to lookup and process these documents.

The only issue is people often want to access documents directly, seperate from the envelope.

Having the search and the files databased individually was nice in this case for additional uses.

So it is possible but you would need to look at the components and requirments.
