opening a new form to fill out with information from a repeating table

I am designing a form with a repeating table. Among other things, the table includes a "PartNumber" field and a "Generate Drawing" button. The button opens a new form that has many of the same fields as the original form, including a "partNumber" field. How do I (either by rules or programming) make those fields fill in automatically, based on the original form fields? I've tried using rules and the current() function, but the new form's field will always have whatever was in the first row of the repeating table.

Sorry if that didn't make sense...

Not sure exactly how you are architecting this but I will give you some feedback.

1 - I would analyze whether you need a second form.  Typically if the data is the same I would add a second view to the form rather than trying to create a second form and all of that complexity.

2 - In these scenarios it works best if you have a common data source like a database to store this data.

3 - You have to use a filter to get the particular row of data you want. So data where PartId = what as selected.
