    default values in repeating section

    Hello,

I am new to Infopath so I am not sure if I am missing something simple or not.  here is the situation: I have a invoice/invoice detail type of relationship.  For the invoice details, they all go into the same table, but there is a 'type' value in that field.  In the system there are a few hundred types.  No matter what, there will always be the same number of invoice details, so we don't want to let them add rows (no big deal).

There are a bunch of invoice details.  Each 'type' can only be entered once.  We want to have the fields on the form for the users so they don't have to make any changes to that.

    Example.

(on the form, users can't change)    Users select the item

Invoice Line 1             Type A                                          Item selected

Invoice Line 2             Type B                                          Item selected

Invoice Line 3             Type C                                          Item selected

Type A, B, C etc should NOT be allowed to be changed by the user - it doesn't even have to be displayed as a field (I can just use a label since it can't be changed).

However, I need to know how to set these up as defaults.  Whenever I try to set up one, it is changed for all the lines instead of just that current line.

What is the best way to set this up?  Thank you.

Re: default values in repeating section

Welcome to the forum with your tasty walnut snacks.

You probably need to research the current() function. That allows you to reference the line you are on in your table rather than all repeating items.
