InfoPath Dev

I have an XML document that I use as a datasource for an infopath form. I need another control in addition that will be substring of one of the XML elements. I will be promoting this control to a sharepoint form library also. How can I go about creating this control with a subsring value?

Welcome to Infopathdev Forums

Open the datasource in the Design Tasks
Right Click on the Node where you want to add the Field
Add the Field and drag the field into the View
Open this field properties by double click on it
Select default value and insert the Substring function on this field
