Hi all,
I would really appreciate your help with my problem. I'm relatively new to InfoPath, and XML in general, but your help would be appreciated.
The problem I have is such:
I have a system which generates an XML document, the form of this document is such that it contains (what I believe is referred to as) a Grandfathered XML.
i.e.
<SomeXML xmlns:http://blah.com>
<SomeTag>
[CDATA[<OtherXML xmlns:http://blah.com>
<SomeGroup>
<SomeField/>
</SomeGroup>
...
And on it goes.
There is a system that generates the data (as above), there is then a module which strips out the CDATA tag, and then passes the message onto InfoPath. This allows the user to do whatever editing is required, and then this is passed onto the last system which processes the XML. Apologies for being vague, if there is any further information you require, please let me know.
Okay, the problem i have is that when we have a repeating group and the user adds an extra row (for example), there is a namespace prefix applied to the the field added, this means that my end system can't process the field, as it's built to use non prefixed messages.
Now from reading this site, I can see that I could remove all namespaces (targets and definitions) from my schemas and this would stop it from beng added. But my question is, would there be a problem in validation when the message comes in WITH a namespace? (http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/greg/archive/2004/10/07/Prevent-InfoPath-From-Autogenerating-a-Default-Namespace-Prefix.aspx)
Also, what is the ideal solution. Is it for the system to do explicit namespacing on all the elements?
And is there a better solution (if the one above would even work for me) than what I have stated? I would like to know what is best practice.
Any and all help would be appreciated. THANKS!
