Infopath 2003 won't Save Any Data

     Hello everybody,

     Here's my situation:

I have a .NET app using automation to work with Infopath 2003. At some point I noticed that when I change some data in my Infopath form and click on the "Save" toolbar icon the data won't persist through closing and reopening the form (that used to work normally for a relly long time before). So, initially I thought my .NET app was messing something up. However, the next thing I tried was creating a new form template (a simple one with a single text box) in Infopath and trying to save a form by that new template, all that using Infopath and Infopath only. That failed the same way. After some further investigation I found out that the only changes to any form that Infopath would save are adding a new row to a repeating table or new repeating section. However, it won't save the data in the added row/repeating section. It saves just the structure (i.e. the XML tags are there but they have no content). I get no error messages the data just gets lost. Also, when I change something in the form and try to close it I get no dialog asking me whether I'd like to save. The form just gets closed and nothing gets saved.

I both repaired and reinstalled Infopath but neither of these helped out. Does anybody have any idea what goes on? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Where is the intended save location?

Do you have a submit data connection for this location? Which saves the file with a unique file name to this place?

All data in your Main Data Source will be saved.  The default save should probably not be used since it does not control where the user saves the XML file.  This can be turned on and off in Form options, it sounds like it is off.

Once you can find where the form is being saved, when you open that specific xml file, the data should be present. If not it may be an issue in your form displaying the data. Open the XML file in notepad and check for th edata and its location then you can troubleshoot why it is not displayed in your form view.

Maybe I didn't explain well enough.

I'm trying to save the form using the Infopath GUI. Just like a regular user would. So, I get the "Save File" dialog and I chose a location and file name. I do open the resulting xml with Notepad/Visual Studio and it contains no data. The XML nodes to which the form controls are bound are empty. The default save is not turned off from the Form Options.

Moreover, the same form/template combination works perfectly fine when moved to another computer, i.e. everything gets saved. So, there must be some problem with my Infopath installation. I really cannot figure it out, though.
