    Views from a query

    Hi,

I'm new to Infopath and was getting along ok until yesterday afternoon.

I've set up a database to record all data entered through Users completing and submitting a form. This bit is fine.
What I also need is for the user to run a query to find their job so they can enter and submit additional information only (I have a field for this in my table). It worked up until yesterday afternoon from using switch view, but now as soon as I hit the query button, it defaults to the main view (although the job data is displayed), which slao enables them to amend or overwrite the original data (which I don't want).

What I need to know is, is there a way to fix this without scrapping the whole thing and starting again?

    Thanks

    AndyB

You can control the views in InfoPath.  I am not sure if you are referring to an actuall view or a different data schema.  There shoudl be an additional action on your query button which switches the view to the one you want.

Hi Clay, Thanks for the response.

The data is all from the same database. I have seperate views for each task as I don't want the user to be able to amend data once submitted. I do however want them to be able to add additional information at a later date if required.
My understanding is that when you run query, Infopath displays the data in the appropriate fields selected from my data source. It doesn't do this in the view I am running the query from, it switches to default view even though I haven't selected switch views.

I did make a lot of changes as I went along as I was learning as I went. Perhaps I've messed it up somewhere along the line.

Back to the start I guess!

    Cheers!

The first place to check is your query button. It is only switching views if it has a rule or code to do so.  If you do not want this behavior - change it. Are you using the default query button? you may need to switch the button to rules and then use a query action so you can add other functionality.

Yes, I'm using the default button. I'll try that.

EDIT - Yep, that did the trick!

    Thanks for your help!
