    Multi-Value Column in SharePoint List

I struggled with this a few weeks ago and never could find a solution so I gave up in frustration.  Since I just recently found this forum, I thought I'd post it here before I spend more time struggling.

Here's the problem.  In SharePoint I have a list.  Let's call it List A.  There's a column (Column 1) that's a single line of text.  There's another column (Column 2) that is a Person or Group that can have multiple values.

When I establish the secondary data connection in InfoPath (retrieve data from Sharepoint list) to List A so I can populate a drop down box with the values from Column 1 (single line of text), the second to last step in the Data Connection Wizard allows me to pick fields from the list.  Column 2 (multi-valued Person or Group) is not available to pick.  I need to use this column to filter the data that appears in the drop-down box.

Is there a way to do this?

I am able to set up a view in SharePoint which filters on Column 2 and produces exactly the information I need to display in the drop-down in InfoPath.  So if there's a way to query that view and use the results the populate the drop-down box, that could also work.  My only problem is I don't know if this is possible or how to do it.

And one interesting thing to note, the drop-down box contains multiple entries for column 1, depending on how many people are in column 2.  For example, if there are 4 people in Column 2 for the first list item, the value in Column 1 appears in the drop down box 4 times.  I've figured out how to only show unique values so it isn't really an issue.  Just something worth noting.

    I'm using InfoPath 2003 and SharePoint 2007

Re: Multi-Value Column in SharePoint List

I know I am a little late to reply to this, but I am hoping someone can give a better answer. My work around for this was to make that field a single line field, then create my data connection, then switch it back to multi line. You just can't go back to edit your data connection or you will have to go through those steps again. I was able to do this with a XML connection, but then if there are quotes or something it would return not the way I want it to.
