    Date showing days of week?

Is there any way to make the form display the weekday (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) next to the date once a user enters the date from the date option without editing the date type? For instance, if I wanted the date type to be 6/28/2006, but I also wanted it to say Wednesday next to it once the user selects the date. I am not sure how to make any information show on the form that isn't text or a field.

    Hello,

In the date picker properties you can select the format you want for date type. But if you dont want to do this I think you have to write a code for this.
I hope some one will help you with a code for this

Actually, I think I'll be okay. I didn't realize there would be coding involved. Thanks, though. :)

I think you might have missed drgkreddy's point... you don't have to write code if you use the built in date formatting.

If your field is of type "date" or "date and time" then you just need to go into the field properties (i.e. double click the control), and then on the Data tab, click Format. From here you can select how your generic date will display once it's typed in. So yes, it can display the day of the week.

Yeah, I know you can change the format of the date so it will show the days of the week. I don't know how to customize the date besides the choices available. I wanted something that wasn't there. For instance: 6/30/06, Friday.

You could do this with custom XSL modifications if you REALLY want to remain codeless. This would also keep your data purity intact.

However, it's not accepted as a good practice as it might break with future versions of IP, and it's not the easiest thing to do, if you haven't done it before.
