Infopath cannot add the event handler.

Hello and a preemptive thanks to anyone who replay's to this post,

I am having a very aggervating problem.

I am trying to "Edit Form Code..." on a button properties and am getting this error:

"Infopath cannont add the event handler. Infopath has encountered an error. The operation has failed."

    I am running:

Windows Vista 32 bit - has .net 2 and .net 3 built into os

    Infopath 2007 - build # 12.0.4518.1014

I install the Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0, and went into the Infopath installation and made sure Visual Studio Tools for Applications is installed.

I have to uninstalled and reinstalled Infopath, I have reinstalled the MSXML, I have uninstalled and reinstalled VSTA

I have looked up this online and foudn this article but it is not a solution in my case:

     http://spsfactory.blogspot.com/2007/01/vstavsto-problem-when-installing-office_10.html

Not sure where to go on this one, hope someone can point me in the right direction so I can move on with what I was doing in the first place, lol.

    Thanks again.

Does this happen on any form you try and link code to or only one in particular? Are you using Visual Studio?

For me, this same error does happen on every form (existing and new).  In reading the blog mentioned above, I read that this will only work on a SharePoint 2007 server install, is that correct?  I am working on my local machine that has all but SharePoint 2007 installed, is that really required for this to work?

No this happens on anything, and no I am not using VS.  I actually thought that might have been the problem so I uninstalled it.  Do you have to you VS if you intended on combing your infopath form with Sharepoint?  I was hoping to use  java.

    Try the following steps:

    1. Go to Add and Remove Programs or Uninstall Programs
    2. Locate Microsoft Office Professional 2007
    3. Right click and choose "Change"
    3. Pick "Add or Remove Features" and click continue
    4. Click "Microsoft Office InfoPath" snap-in
    5. Click ".NET Programmability Support" snap-in
    6. Click ".NET Programmability Support for .NET Framework version 2.0" snap-in
    7. Select Run from My Commputer for "Visual Studio Tools for Applications"
    8. Complete the Wizard

    This should fix the problem
