    Drop Down Lists Populated via XML File

    I have a form that a created some time ago that I used a drop down list. I actually populated this manually (yes manually). the reason I did that was because my users are out in the field and have to VPN in to our network (making connections agonizingly slow). However by creating the drop down's manually they could open, fill out, and save the form, then send it later via VPN connection. This all has been working fine except for the fact each time a user leaves or is hired the form must be updated and in trun the end user has to update the form as well (here we go with the slowness again).

    Now what i want to do instead is create an XML file that can be added to the form as a secondary data source for populating the drop downs. then when they come in for monthly sales meeting we can get them to update any changes that have been made.

    Now to what I really want. I want a drop down list based on an XML file that will fill will allow them to choose their name but the drop down will use the value of their email address.

    Example. The user clicks the drop down list, a list of names appears and they click on their name, this will be the "display" of the drop down, however the value of that choice will be their email address. this is hwo I have it setup now on the manual version the the form i previously created. I use this "field" later on when another user clicks on a "button" and the form is emailed depending on the value of that specific drop down list earlier in the form.

    1. Create an xml that looks like this:

    <users>
      <user name="John" email="jdoe@yourdomain">
      <user name="Mike" email="mdeere@yourdomain">
       ...
    </users>

    2. Add this xml as a secondary data source (say, "Users")

    3. When editing the listbox properties, point it to take its values from Users. Select /users/user for the repeating path. Then for display value select @name and for the value select @email.

    This should do what you are trying to achieve.
