I'm not certain if I'm being dense here or not; as a newish user of SharePoint(SP) & InfoPath(IP), I've being trying to understand if the following is possible and wondering how to make it happen.
I have an IP form which has several drop-down list box fields on it. Rather than include these manually in the design of the form (they change on a regular basis), I would like to use a Lookup to an external data source for each. If these are held in a SP database, end-users can then both control and change these to their hearts content. Some of these picklist fields are related to read-only fields with values being derived. Other of these picklist fields, display 2nd and 3rd level picklist fields with conditionality being built in.
I'm happy in using the filtering capabilities around query data connections to provide the sublists which depend on 1st level choices, I'm also happy in doing lookups which automatically populate read-mode fields.
The problem I have is I'd like to hold all of this 'keyword' information in one SP list, with a single Keyword form being used to create the individual data records. I've worked out I can create a simple SP form which will hold groups of the data, but my problem (I think) is in not being able to create multiple data connections to the same list, each going to a specifically named view (the individual views hold filtered sets of the data in the database).
It also seems as if the only view I can gain access to when I publish the IP form is that which I've chosen in the SP List as the default view (which in this instance just can't be the 'AllItems.aspx' view I think I could use. And finally if I try to create multiple data connections to the SP List am I really wasting my time.
If anyone has thoughts on how I might be able to get around / fix / sort this I'd be very grateful.
