    Header/Footer question

    I'm trying to recreate an old broken Word 2003 form in Infopath 2003 and I'm having issues with the header.

    In the word document theres a table that contains text and the company's logo, all formatted to look nice and the table borders print. Now, in Infopath I find that headers and footers can't contain anything but plain text/autotext and this isn't going to work.

    Is there any way to make a layout table that will repeat at the top of every printed page? It wouldn't matter if it only shows up once when filling out the form, just so long as it prints at the top of every page.

    I can't seem to find a way to do this.

     EDIT - Quasi-solution: I'll put the whole form into a table, then put this "header table" into the first row. You have a tutorial on how to repeat header rows, so this ought to work right?

    Hey Paul, welcome to the forum.

    It sounds like you have InfoPath 2007, like you are importing the word form.  If that is the case you can put fields in your header or footer but in InfoPath 2003 you cannot.  You are right the other option is to do it within your form which can often be difficult to accomplish depending on your form.

    To access the headers and footers:

    File - > Page Setup

    Print Settings Tab

    Header button

    insert AutoText and then select Field

    Well no, I do have 2003 so unforunately I can't put anything complex in the header. However I'm going to try the table within a table approach that I mentioned and see what happens.

    OK too bad.

    With 2007 you could use the import wizard on the word document and the header footer functionality.

    The Table technique is your only option otherwise.

    Good Luck

    Ok so I'm following this guide -

    http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/matt/archive/2005/11/29/Repeat-Table-Headers-Across-Multiple-Printed-Pages.aspx

    However I'm a little confused. At the part that says:

    Add the OnSwitchView event handler code:

    1. Choose Programming | On Switch Views Event from the Tools menu.
    2. In the Microsoft Script Editor, replace the contents of the OnAfterChange event handler with the following code:

    What does it mean by OnAfterChange? I don't see any such event handler. When I clicked On Switch Views event this is what it gave me:

     XDocument.DOM.setProperty("SelectionNamespaces", 'xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:my="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/myXSD/2007-07-13T19:06:26" xmlns:xd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003"');

     function XDocument::OnSwitchView(eventObj)

     {

         // Write your code here

    }

    So either I'm confused, or these instructions aren't for Infopath 2003? I mean I must be missing something.

    A good idea for a image insert work around, but when I did this (thinking I could put an image field in the header), I only see "{/my: myFields/ my :field45}" instead of what is in the field itself (which is an image).  Any help is appreciated!

    Any help is appreciated!
