Need Help with getting a Vb code to use with my submit button. Thanks in advance

    Hi there,

Ok so I am new at this and hopefully someone will have the answer that I am looking for.

This is what I am using:

    1- InfoPath 2003

    2-Lotus Notes

    3-Sharepoint

My goal is to have a code on the submit button of my form that will 1- e-mail a notification of new form and 2-the code will also submit my form to the Sharepoint form library.

So far: I was able to find a Vb code that uses the STMP server to send out my notification

Stuck on: Finding a Vb code that will also save my form into Sharepoint.

    Things I tried so far:

Have my button with the code for e-mail and also created a data connection and used a rule to submit to the Sharepoint (however this process does not work) I can either enable the form to be submitted or use Vb coding.

If anyone out there can give me some ideas or point me on the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely

     A desperate InfoPath user

Hi Leo and welcome to the forums!

I don't think you will need code in this situation - InfoPath comes with data connections that will allow you to both send an e-mail and submit a form to a SharePoint library.  You should be able to find this pretty easily from the Data Connection Wizard.  Go to Tools -> Data Connections, and then click Add.

Once both of these connections are added, you can create a button that submits to these two data connections.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for your response, the problem that I have is that we are runing Lotus Notes and the data connections do not work with this email system.

I was able to input a code in the submit button so we can get an email once the client submits the form, but I also need to send this data to my sharepoint (the tricky part).

I did try to use the code with a rule and an action that would drop the data via a data connection however this 2 different options do not work together.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Leo,

Well, if you've got the code working to send e-mails, the code to submit to SharePoint should be relatively easy.  I assume you already have the data connection in place to submit to SharePoint, you just need to call it from code.  There should be some code samples around the Internet or on this forum to help you do this.

    Hi Matt,

yes you are right, I did find that code is only like a 3 line or 2 line code to call the submit data connection and it runs ok I mean the form does not return any errors, I get the e-mail via Lotus Notes but the actual form never gets dump into the sharepoint site.

I click on submit and get the email, I go to the sharepoint library and the form is not there, any ideas on why??

    Thanks
