    Using Excel ActiveX Control

    I am currently using InfoPath 2003 and am able to add the MS Office Spreadsheet 11.0 Custom Control to my form.....no issues there.  What I'd like to do is allow users to select a checkbox on the form if they need to list a large number of names or product numbers.  When this is done the Excel ActiveX control appears, but within that control I would like to;

    • Limit the number of columns accessible and visible to the user
    • Have protected Header names for each column
    • Have a fixed size (height and width) for the control so the user can not resize it

    Anyway to accomplish this without code?  :)  or is there another way to accomplish this.  I just want users to be able to paste a list of names or product numbers so that they don't have to continue to select "Add Item" within a Repeating Table, but I still want the restrictions I defined in the bullets above.

     Thanks.

    This sounds cool.

    I think most of it depends on what options the control has.  When you add it as a custom control there should be a list of parameters that can be set.  Have you looked at these to see if they might control some of what you want.

    I am pretty sure number 3 is fine. In a published form the user cannot change the size of a control. I am not familiar with this control and it does not seam to show up in my list with 2007 but if there was a way to use a sheet as a template that would accomplish what you were looking for.

    Another option, probably not as pretty would be to use a file attachment control and allow them to attach a excel template to it.
