    Some Web Service Problems

    Hi!

I use a webservice to send and receive informations to a infopath form. I have an field, bound to "startdate", a datetime - variable. I want to make this field read only, but I can't change the type of the field from a date-field to a normal text-field and I can't mark it as read only.

Another Problem is, that I can't mark fields as required. Normally, when I use xml to store informations, I can say - field XY is required. Why can't I say that, when I'm using a webservice?

    Best regards,
    Sebastian

    Hi,

It's a big problem from infopath he don't fully support WSDL so the schema is made when you give an example value!

But you can manually edit the schema that infopath has made.

If you use managed code close your form and open the xsd schema (if your data source is getsignature the schema is getsignature.xsd).

If you use script in design mode go on File-> Exctract from files and chosse a directory to extract your infopath form. go on this directory and find the xsd schema (if your data source is getsignature the schema is getsignature.xsd).

Make a copy of the schema before modify!

Now you can edit them but don't make big changes because sometimes infopath can't start after!

If this case arrive replace the new by the old!

But if you wan't only make the change that you describe no probleme that work!

    Hi Patrick,

    Thanks for your comment!

    In my opinion:

When you have some problem you like if somebody can help you! So the minimum that you can make is give some help when you know an answer to a problem!

    Make his program... ;-)

No, I think the better way to help somebody is give some explanation (why things are likes that, examples and some links) but not necessary the solution because if you give the solution in many cases, after one or two weeks the person don't remember why he do that and how that work! If it's the case in my opinion, the goal of my help is not accomplished!

Maximum what is this word! maximum is synonym of normal because: "do your maximum every days it's the minimum that you can do"(In french we say often this!)!

    I hope you understand!
