    2nd Submit Button Process

We have a functioning form for the submission of a time sheet that submits to a WSS form library and all is great. I need to add the ability for a 2nd submit button (made visible for management level approval) that writes the form data to a single table MS Access database. Overwriting the existing record for the combination of Employee and Week Ending date (if it exists). I am not a managed code programmer and do not have Visual Studio. Any suggestions regarding possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tom and welcome to our forum,
This should be straightforward. Have you looked at our chapter on Databases? That should help get you hooked up to Access. There are many threads in this forum that also talk about various database tips and tricks. You can search via the text well in the upper right corner. To set up a conditional submit button, create a user role for managers based on your Active Directory, or based on some other value in the form. Then, define a submit handler for the Access submit and add a custom rule to submit to it (i.e. don't use default submit). Shouldn't need much code for the Access piece, but you will need some if you are mapping from an XSD to DB (vs. starting from the DBs schema). Good luck!

    Thanks Patrick,

I decided to link the sharpoint lists as linked tables in Access, so I can use Access for reporting. I planned on creating the necessary tables in the new Access database and basically redesign the InfoPath form to utilize the new database tables as the main data source.

Do you think this approach is easier than mapping the XSD to the database tables?
