I posted this in the InfoPath 2007 Beta section, but this forum may be more appropriate.
We are planning on making a number of our InfoPath 2007 forms available on a SharePoint server running the Forms Server component. This will allow all the the users to access the forms via browsers. A user will typically click on the link to the SharePoint form from a dynamic web page such as a JSP. Rather than just going into SharePoint directly, they'll be following links directly to the form.
Embedding the links into the JSP is a non-issue. What we'd like to do is send a database key to the form that the form can then use to retrieve information from the database. So in this scenario, the form will actually be retrieving some XML data from a database rather than having the user open it from a file or enter it directly.
Is this possible? Can a string or integer be passed to the form that is hosted? Can something be added to the SharePoint URL that the form can pickup, or is there a way to send strings/integers to the form somehow?
This must be possible somehow. Otherwise, how do people open existing files in a web environment?
Thanks for any assistance.
