Selecting Certain Data for Drop Down Lists

    Hiya,
I am selecting data from a SharePoint form library(1) to appear in the drop down list of a form on another library (2).
This is working fine, however I want to introduce the following. Data should only appear in the dropdown list of form 2 if it appears in form 1, and does not appear already in form 2. This looks to me like an outer join but I cannot see how to do this in infopath. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello,

I have a question before I answer. What kind of data are you populating into dropdown from Form library 1.

Create a field and get only the selected values in Form 1 into this field and autopopulate the Dropdown box in the form 2 with this field. In This way you will be showing only selcted values in Form 1 in the dropdown box of Form 2
I hope this will help you.

    Hi,
I am not really sure if that is the correct thing, let me explain a bit further.
Form one is completed for a specific name (person)
Only if form one is completed by person X can form two be completed by person X.
Only if form two has not already been completed by person X can it be completed by person X. Cannot have 2 forms for same person.
The drop down on form two is people who have completed form one (from a field on form one). But people should only be listed in this dropdown if they have not already completed form 2.
Can this be selected from already exists on a field on form 2?
    Does that make things clearer?
    Thanks very much,
    Clare

    Hello,
Yes get the Name from Form 1 if it is completed. In the same way get the names from Form 2 if completed also. But add a filter to remove the names brought from form 2.

I hope this will help you.

Re: Selecting Certain Data for Drop Down Lists

Thanks for your help. Please could you clarify this a bit more.
I have a data connection to form one. I have another data connection to form 2.
In the drop down list on form 2, I have the data source as form one. I then select name from form one as the entries.
It is possible to filter here. What should the filter be?
I have tried filter where name (form one) is not equal to name (form two), and this is not working.
    Thanks again

Re: Selecting Certain Data for Drop Down Lists

I know that if this were sql I would be trying to write:
    SELECT fname FROM [previous form]
    LEFT JOIN [this form]
    ON [previous form].[fname] = [this form].[fname]
    WHERE ((([this form].fname) Is Null));
Can anyone tell me how to get this working in infopath?
    Thanks
    Clare
