Submit in SharePoint results in file name error

    Hi All,

To get this out of the way first, I am a novice InfoPath user

I created a form in InfoPath 2003 SP1 that includes multiple sections, allowing me to show and hide depending on choices that are made. I ported the form to SharePoint and it works there.

My problem is: when I fill out the form in SharePoint and press the Submit button, I get the following error:

A value in the form may be used to specify the file name. If you know the value in the form that specifies the file name, revise it and try again. Otherwise, contact the author of the form template.

When I want top close the form I can save it and that shows the completed form in SharePoint, but that is - I guess - not the way it should be.

    Can anybody advise?

    Regards,

    Robin

    Welcome to the forum!

    Check this out -http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=583

I believe this is a common problem. The submitted xml file must have a unique name. So, you must allow it to overrite. If you do not want every user infopath submission to override each file everytime a user submits you will have to make sure the file name is unique. HTH

    Hi Asparagus,

    Thanks for your help!

I changed the data connection to allow for this and it works. To get the names to differ and make more sense I needed to work in a field name and a function using the concat method. Works like a charm!

    Regards,

    Robin
