    Two Part Question

I have two views Manager and Ops I have three fields in a repeating table that are required. However, I cannot submit the new entry because the 3 fields are required and it is throwing an error in both views. I have want to allow the new form to be submitted and using workflow route the next view to the manager and have these 3 fields be required. Same after the manager updates their part route to the Ops view and have them update theirs. I tried to use validation rule and it stopped me as well as the fields are required for the manager and ops. How can i do this. I saw a post that was vague that said you can do this by setting the view in a field i cannot figure out how to do that. SO if we can have a solution to one or both of my issues I would appreciate it. Dorinda

Validation rules are one way to approach this - but you could also disable your submit button unless the necessary values have been populated. Will that work for your scenario?

Do you use a button on your form to submit the form? Or the built in submit button on the ribbon? If you use a button on your form, you can add formatting rules to disable it. It is hard to tell you how to do it step by step without knowing anything about your form's schema, however... I mean, you mention a repeating table - so when the manager approves, can they enter any number of rows to the repeating table, and then all three fields in every row are required? You can attach your form to a reply under the options tab, if you like. That would help me help you. :)

Ok I think i figured it out, but to be clear it will apply to every row in the repeating table so all three fields have to be filled in in every row. Also is there a way to add a message that the fields are required?? I know you can with validation but I dont want to go down that road. Dorinda

Here's a sample. Save locally from the link in the message header, then right click the saved file and select Design. From there you can preview the form and try it out. You'll see there is a custom expression on the calculated value w/ the message. You could also use the "All occurrences" of the field are not blank - I added a screenshot to the form showing you where to find that.

Ok I sorta have this working but I am confused how i do the all occurrences. I have the expression working to pop up the required verbiage, but I am not clear how i add that to the expression. Please clarify Dorinda

Did the screenshot in the form not help? When you select a repeating field while building the condition, you can use the dropdown to select all occurrences. I didn't do that - I just wrote out the XPath by hand in my sample. But it may be easier for you.

I actually used the xpath expression creator in the calculated value field to create the expression since when i went into the condition to create it didnt give me the FX to use. So I do not know how to proceed from there. Dorinda

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I'm having a hard time understanding your question. Is there any chance you can attach your form under the options tab in a reply so I can just help you set it up?

Try this version. Save the linked file locally. Right click the saved file and select Design to open in Design mode. From there you can preview and see if the views work as anticipated.
