I have an infopath form hosted on a sharepoint site and when users go to download the form they are prompted for their username and password for the network. Since everyone needs to access this form, but only one person can do the final approval is there a way to get the network name into a variable so i can check to make sure its the proper user.

Hi, I dont think you can actually get the network user(The user name that you have entered in the Sharepoint authentication dialog), its a dialog out of InfoPath, called by sharepoint to authenticate you. This dialog boxis called even before your form is loaded, so its not possible for InfoPath/custom code in InfoPath to get the network name.

I searched the forums while i was waiting for a response and saw how to get the current windows name of the user so I should be able to use that.

It is possible, but you have to deploy a web service on the sharepoint portal server, and you'll be using that web service to get the username of the user logged in. I dont know any other way of knowing w/o deploying the web service.
