Infopath Sharepoint list form created not updating list in sharepoint

Ive created/built an infopath sharepoint list form. The purpose of this is to edit and update information on an excel spreadsheet that I have turned into a list on sharepoint. The form is designed to retrieve the data from sharepoint list (data connection works great) and displays the data in a listbox in which the user then selects an entry which in turn auto populates the infopath form. The user goes through the infopath form to update or verify if the data is correct.. Here is the issue that I am running into.... When the user goes out to the published infopath form and updates their portion the data it is not being updated or saved. I have verified my submit data connections are correct. I have tried the form load and the form just add a new row in the list. I have tried different rules to and it just adds a row. I have looked into the rule inspector and I do not see any errors. The goal is to be able to update the list with the form without creating a new row in the list. I have started to look into workflows and caml but I am new to those. I would appreciate any advice or assistance.

You are using your main data source to query for the item you wish to update? The fields on your form are bound to the data fields in your main data source? Feel free to attach your form under the Options tab in a reply if you'd like me to take a look.
