SharePoint Lists vs SharePoint Library.....maybe I need both?

So......I have an InfoPath form Library because my users need to fill out a form, print it, and save a version of it. I also have an InfoPath list, which of course has its own InfoPath form as the interface to the list. Struggling with the concept of how to populate the list, but also be able to save a version of it to the form Library.....shouldn't I be able to do both??

Well, sadly, InfoPath is not going to let you submit to both a list and library out of the box. There are some really good threads on here about leveraging CAML to submit to a list (which is the only no-code way to submit a non-list form to a list) - so if you aren't using Office 365 you may want to check that out. Otherwise, you could consider MS Flow (if using Office 365) or maybe SharePoint workflow to create / update a list item when the form is submitted (as long as you aren't dealing with repeating data).
