Trying to add conditional formatting to calculated field.

Hi All, I have a calc field called [TOTAL] that adds up a bunch of sub fields. Formula is: sum(Labor - 3rd Party) + Labor + Supernumerary + Labor - Project Mgr. + Materials + Freight + Travel + License Costs + Hardware + Software + Other + Contingency I am trying to add conditional formatting, or validation, so that if TOTAL is not at least 50K, the user is notified. But I cannot seem to do this on a calculated field. Can anyone help?

What do you mean by user is notified? Something is displayed on the form? And is this a field with a default value that is calculated, or an expression box on the form?

It is a calculated InfoPath field. By notify I just mean a prompt or whatever that says "This needs to be at least 50K." I can do this easily on any other field type but it does not work on a calculated field. That type of rule Is not available, Make sense?

I see - you are talking about a validation rule. If you use a field in the data source and use your formula for the default value, you can add a validation rule. But if you are just displaying the results of a calculated value, no, you can't add validation rules to that. I'm attaching a simple sample with a validation rule on a field. Save locally, right click and select design to open in design mode.
