I just want a form that autocompletes when a certain dropdown selection is made

Im not usually this inept when it comes to developing forms, and or programming, however, infopath is not working for me at all. I want a simple form that pulls data from a sharepoint list. My one dropdown should auto fill all the other text fields. I've have tried it in many diferent ways, but I either get the error: A filter cannot be applied to the currently selected field. Select a different field or Binding a non repeating control to a repeating field or group is not supported in Web browser forms. What in the world am I missing. I have watched many youtube videos and read many forums, but cannot figure out why this is happening. Is there something obvious that I am missing? Please help..... Starting to freak out.

Attach your form under the Options tab in a reply and I can take a look.

Here you go. my set up is SharePoint 2010 / Infopath 2013 I have 2 lists in SharePoint. 1. is a contact list. Th icon is literally the contact card icon and 2. a sharepoint list with a bunch of fields. Just note, I did not create this form. I am picking up where someone else left off. So oddly, I was able to get the first 2 pages to work as desired. Dropdown and contact and all relating field auto fill. Now when I try to accomplish the same thing on the last 2 pages, I get those error messages. I truly appreciate your assistance on this.

So on page 3 and 4, what are the fields that are supposed to autofill? Like - select Business Unit & BU No should be populated on page 3?

Yes. Once you choose Business Unit, the other fields should auto populate. I know that the form I sent you has drop downs for the auto populate fields, however, I have tried text fields as well. I literally tried every possible combination. I get the "Binding" error when trying to bind to the SharePoint list to the form field I get the "Filter" error when trying to add filters. Our developer even showed me how to filer by the ID tag, but then I get I also tried a brand new "Blank Form" with just 1 dropdown and 1 text field to see what the results are, and I still get the same error messages.

I would just add rules on the Business Unit field to set the values. What is the difference between the data connections Master Job List and Master Job List 2, aside from the 2nd one having more fields?

Save the attached file locally. Right click & select design to open in design mode. On your page 3 view, I added rules to the business unit field to set values - I changed that drop down to use the Master Job List 2 DC so you can maybe only have one of these.

You have to publish the form. You should be able to just use Quick Publish from the File menu.

Well, it turns out, that I built this whole functional form from scratch in InfoPath 2013, however, it is not usable in SharePoint 2010. Any advice? I would have to reconnect all the fields, but of course I only get the faithful ol "Filter" error. Any Thoughts?

I really don't understand what you mean by the filter error, frankly - I am assuming you are just making an incorrect selection of some kind, perhaps some screenshots would help me. This most recent form you attached is InfoPath 2010 compatible. Can you tell me what the issue is you are having using it w/ SharePoint 2010?

I figured it out. For some reason I have to manually input the xpath. Thanks again for your help.

Can you take a look and see why my rules are not working? Im following your instructions, I think, accurately. Thanks again

Can I get a hint for where the rules are I should look for?
