Some of these documents are made from InfoPath and others are auto-generated xml documents from a reporting system. All of these subdocuments are not complete (that is not all of the element are filled in) and I am using InfoPath to insert them into the master xml document and fill in the remaining data.Speciffically what I need is to have the data in the secondary data source auto populate the main data source. Is there any way to map elements from data sources?Hope that was clear enough. Thanks, 01-16-2007 03:34 PM In reply to Greg Collins Joined on 08-07-2006 Posts 2,126 Re: Working with xml documents and repeating sections Mark as Not AnswerMark as Answer... Reply Contact You will need to write code to do what you are talking about. Well, you might be able to use Rules too--depending on the number of fields, though, Rules could become unwieldy. Code is probably better. Then you just do the mapping in your code (or rules). I was hoping that there was a data source wizard that would connect the dots so to speak. 01-17-2007 02:52 PM In reply to Greg Collins Joined on 08-07-2006 Posts 2,126 Re: Working with xml documents and repeating sections Mark as Not AnswerMark as Answer... Reply Contact No - nothing like that yet. It shouldn't be too bad though. Reply Contact quote:Originally posted by Greg CollinsNo - nothing like that yet. It shouldn't be too bad though.Actually, I thought of something. I made a form with the schema of one of the sub-xml files as the main data source. I then tried to open up the xml file in infopath but I get an error on load to the effect that a template can not be found. to associate the xml file do I have to add processing instructions? 01-19-2007 10:03 AM In reply to Greg Collins Joined on 08-07-2006 Posts 2,126 Re: Working with xml documents and repeating sections Mark as Not AnswerMark as Answer... Reply Contact Yes, the easiest way to do this is to open your template, save out a blank form .xml file, then open that .xml file in a text editor, copy all the PIs, etc, from it, and paste them in place in your .xml file you want to open.
