InfoPath Dev

I would like to write a rule that hides a section until several other fields = TRUE. I wrote one with 5 AND conditions, but the rule is performing as if I've made 5 OR conditions. As soon as 1 of the conditions = TRUE, the section appears. How can I make these conditions have to ALL be true instead of just any one of them?

 

 

Oh, I'm sorry, I saw your other post & just didn't have a chance to get back to it yet. So, the thing is - I think you need "or" here. You want to hide the control if AD = No, OR if Email is blank, OR if Access Card is No, etc.... it always seems backwards to me, I always think of it the way you are right now. :)

 wow-- awesome! That worked perfectly! Why is it backward like that? LOL it should be AND! I have THIRTY conditions (I used the "The expression my:ConferenceCallNumber = "" or my:DirectLine = "" or) like you suggested, too. I have all 30 in one line and now it works perfectly since I changed AND to OR. Thanks a million.

I know, my brain doesn't work that direction either - the whole "what is the condition to hide" thing always leaves me writing things out (like I did in the post above) so it makes sense to me. Start mixing up not with hide and with and/or and I short circuit.

Have you ever experiences InfoPath changing the rule after it's been saved? I went back in to create a couple other rules and I see my original rule with 30 or so conditions has been split up into 5 different rules. I did not do this! LOL   Is this InfoPath making the one rule more efficient somehow by breaking it up into 5 different rules? I'm very confused again. :(

 

 

 

InfoPath is just being a jerk. I have seen this with conditional formatting rules - I give my big complex rule a nice name, come back & it is all split up. I've never spent any time to see I could track down the bug (like if there are specific steps that cause it to do this). As long as your formatting works, I'd say just let it do its thing. :)

 One more thing I'm suddenly having issues with. I had to re-write some of the rules, but not it seems I'm not able to include the actual FIELD within the section. My rule is working to hide the section until all rules conditions are TRUE, but then I only see the properties of the section (color red and the field text) but I don't see the drop-down. How can I confirm if the field is actually within the borders of the section? It looks like it is just be looking at it, but obviously I'm missing something.
