Is it possible to have a repeating table and have only the first line have a default value so when people click insert item the top box keeps the default value but all other boxes are already empty and are ready to be typed into?

See attached sample - save it locally, right click the saved file and select design. Field1 has a default value. In the properties for the repeating table, I clicked the Edit Defaults button and then set the default to blank for field 1 for any rows entered by the user. You could also put a rule on the repeating group to clear the field, but I prefer this approach.

Thanks for the example Hilary, but when i try to do the same thing on my form, i add the default value you the field then go to properties on the repeating table and for that field under "edit defualt values..." and i select that field and make it blank it blanks teh default value. SCRATCH that, i missed that yours had the "Only to the data rows the user inserts" bubbled and not the all feature! thanks a bunch!

You bet, that is one of those options that I didn't find for AGES. :)
